Active SNMP 3.0 - New User Interface Design!

Active SNMP 3.0 introduces a new and completely re-designed graphical user interface. The main objective is to bring users a clearly defined and easily understandable menu and allow accessing as well as using the application's all functions as comfortably and quickly as possible.

At the same time, Active SNMP 3.0 inherits the extended flexibility of SNMP data visualization in graphs and other powerful features brought by Active SNMP 2.1a as described below.

  • Percentile filters to eliminate high and low spikes in graphs
  • Remote access to graph images
  • Option to copy graphs to another folder
  • Enhanced shutdown options
  • Option to access console commands remotely
  • MIB file names changed to lower case for flawless operation across various OS
  • Using Object ID for variable browsing
  • BigInteger is used for processing expressions

The core functions of Active SNMP are: MIB tree browsing, MIBs management and elementary SNMP commands. These functions, available from the early versions, are simple to use, robust, and perform well. In addition to that, we have added the possibility to monitor SNMP variables in graphs. The motivation behind was to provide a simple graph tool on top of the existing Active SNMP engine.

From our customers' feedback we have learned that Active SNMP data visualization in graphs requires more flexibility in order to provide better customization. Based on that, the following new features were implemented during the application's development over the time:

  • An expression on SNMP variables is drawn in the graphs now
  • Each graph can display up to two expressions
  • It is allowed to combine SNMP variables from different SNMP agents
  • Graphs container is a named folders-like tree structure
  • Graph scanning period is customizable now
  • The visual appearance of graphs (colors, grids, labels) as well as the graph pages can be customized

See our News or the User's Guide page to get more information about Active SNMP 3.0.

Active SNMP contains a full-featured SNMP browser. It lets you select the SNMP agent in the network and also navigate through its MIBs. You can read tables and variables, see their description and set their values.

In addition, values of the selected variables can be displayed in Active SNMP graphs. You can view variable trends in hour, 6-hour, day, week, month and year graphs.

Active SNMP makes the SNMP information available using its embedded Web server. You can install Active SNMP on any computer in the network and access it via Web browser from either the same or any other computer. There is no need to install any special client software in addition to the Web browser.

At the same time, with security concern in mind, SSL communication is available between Active SNMP Web server and the user's Web browser.

Active SNMP has a built-in login and user management. Active SNMP logs all user login attempts and failures by default informing the administrator about who is using Active SNMP and from which address.

Active SNMP contains a MIB compiler. Use it to add new MIBs into Active SNMP.
