Installation

Active SNMP can be installed on any Java enabled platform. Our Web site provides several Active SNMP distributions. Depending on the used platform, the appropriate installation file should be used:

• the self-extracting executable for MS Windows platforms - it installs Active SNMP as a Windows application or as a Windows NT service for Windows NT/2000/XP
• the RPM package for Linux systems
• universal raw ZIP file distribution (no setup) - it can be used on any platform, however it needs the required JRE installed prior on the platform.

Installation on MS Windows XP/2000/NT/98/95

In order to install Active SNMP when running a MS Windows operating system is to use the simple self-extracting executable file ActiveSNMP30.exe.

After downloaded, run it and follow the dialog windows to complete the installation.

Installation on Linux Systems

To install Active SNMP when running a Linux operating system is to use the RPM package activeSNMP-3.0-0.i386.rpm.

Just download it and apply.

Installation from Raw ZIP File

Unzip the ActiveSnmp30.zip file into a subdirectory on your system while preserving the subdirectory structure.

Launch Active SNMP by using the 'java -jar' command.

Example:

   java -jar asnmp.jar
